TEAM NEWS: Hitech Aims for Brands Double
10.07.2007
TEAM NEWS: Hitech Racing aims to continue its domination of the series that has so far resulted in six wins and a commanding 51 point lead by taking double victory next time out Brands Hatch (July 14/15).
Championship leader Marko Asmer, from Estonia, has climbed the top
step of the podium at every circuit this season, including twice at
Donington Park. The 22 year-old, who resides in Buckingham, enjoyed a
close-fought race last time out on the Italian Monza circuit, snatching
victory from his chief rival Maro Engel.
Now, as the season
enters the second half, Asmer and the David Hayle-led team are
determined to add more silverware to the trophy cabinet as they both
bid for the elusive first title. For Asmer, who returned to the team
with whom he narrowly missed the title in 2004, this year is critical
in his bid to move up the ladder and become the first Estonian in Grand
Prix racing.
For Hitech Racing, in its fifth season in the
domestic championship, the title would be just rewards for the
hard-working young team based at the home of the British Grand Prix.
“We’re
not thinking Championship at this point it’s too early because we are
only at the halfway point of the season, our aim is to go out and win
every race with either driver and score the maximum number of wins we
can. We have to stay focused and keep doing the job we have been doing
but now we must do it better to win more times”
Asmer’s
talented young team-mate Walter Grubmüller is one of the youngest
drivers on the British F3 grid and one of the least experienced of the
33 car field. Despite that, the young Austrian has shown great
maturity in the first half of the season and rapidly improved in his
first year in the ultra-competitive series.
With just a season
in Formula Renault Eurocup under his belt and his limited karting
experience, Walter has adapted well to the more powerful Mercedes
HWA-powered Dallara and has concentrated on the job in hand. As the
second half of his rookie season approaches the F3 newcomer heads into
the next rounds looking to move up the order as he bids for his maiden
podium finish.
Two races around the superb Brands Hatch Grand
Prix track becoms for the Hitech Racing team at 11.10 and 15.00 on
Sunday July 15th preceded by two official qualifying sessions around
the 2.3 miles track at 11.30 and 14.50 on Saturday July 14th.
